Student numbers rise for ACU National teaching degrees 4 February 2009:

The number of students applying to study teaching degrees at Australian Catholic University (ACU National) in NSW has hit a new high this year, with more than 600 new students expected to enrol in education programs.

Entry marks to the courses also remained some of the highest in the State, with Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary) students required to obtain a UAI (University Admissions Index) rank of 78.40 – the highest in NSW.

Those wanting to study Bachelor of Education (Primary) at the University needed a UAI of 82.35 – the second highest in NSW.

“I was also attracted by the smaller class sizes which mean personal attention, as well as the good job prospects when I finish studying.”

Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Craven said he was delighted with the figures, which reflect the University’s strong reputation for quality teaching degrees.

“ACU National has the largest education faculty in the country, and a long tradition of producing experienced teachers and educational leaders,” he said.

“We look forward to welcoming this year’s new students and watching their progress over the next few years.”

Close to 1800 new students are expected to enrol across ACU National’s two Sydney campuses this year.
